Artwork #1: Weeping Willow (3 Piece Collection) - WDI Green Art Show, Original Art | Series 3: Awareness

While working at Walt Disney Imagineering, artist participated on the yearly "Green Art Show" to commemorate April's Earth Day.  All Imagineers were invited to participate with any artistic creative and original pieces.  All art pieces were meant to be made out of broken, rescued or re-purpose items, to create awareness to the "Green" movement, on the improvement and protection of our planet.

Artist created an original 3-piece collection composed of a framed art piece, a sculptural willow tree with a base, and a display table for the sculpture.  All the materials used for the creation of the 3 pieces were re-purposed.  From the woods used on the table and base, refinished for the art show, to recycle wires for the tree sculptured structure, and re-purposed picture frame.  The main material, over 1,800 paper receipts.    

As describe by the artist with his handwriting on the painting, the artist started to plan and collect store receipts 2 years prior to the next art show, with the goal to use them for the creation of the 3 pieces.  Receipts were used on the painting to create the "city grid" and mat, for the creation of the willow tree sculpture over a wire structure, and to wrap the display table. The message was to bring awareness to the unnecessary excess of paper used and wasted on receipts by stores and restaurants.  

Art Features:

• Painting depicts a leafless weeping willow tree overlayed over a contrasting rigid "city block" grid.  The city grid is made out of iconic receipts, representing the impact of man-made developments in our trees, and our planet.
• Tree's base ground is the artist handwritten description and data collected during the 2 years in the making for the art pieces.  Artwork signature is cleverly created with an actual signature from a yellow receipt.
• A tiny hidden Mickey can be found on the tree's right branch near second joint.
• Artist hidden initials can be located on the branch tips to the right, pass the red willow leaves.
